The Jewelers Building, designed by the architectural firm of Adler and Sullivan was completed in 1882. It is the oldest extant building of Adler and Sullivan. Originally commissioned by Chicago real estate developer, Martin Ryerson, it is now owned and occupied by Ivan Ries & Co Tobacconists. The variety and creativity of the building ornament is remarkable. Note, particularly, the cast iron columns.
