Murgatroyd & Ogden

+++ EVERETT FREDERICK MURGATROYD was born on August 20, 1880 in New York City. He was trained as a Civil Engineer. Prior to his partnership with Palmer Ogden, he was an "architect of factories" in the Bronx.

+++ PALMER HARMON OGDEN was born in Dutchess County, New York in 1881. He was a graduate of Cooper Union in 1906.

+++ In 1922 MURGATROYD & OGDEN formed their partnership and became the corporate architects for the Allerton Hotel Chain. They collaborated with Arthur Loomis Harmon, the Allerton chain's consulting Architect, and partnered with local architects for out-of-town commissions. Their local connection in Chicago was Fugard and Knapp. In addition to their very successful work for the Allerton, they received commissions from James S. Cushman, William Silk, the Salvation Army, and financier Bernard Baruch.
